What to do in Sydney, Australia…

What to do in Sydney Australia? To anyone travelling to Australia and taking in the iconic city of Sydney, this question is a fairly important one. Thankfully many before us have already addressed it and answered it confidently – so, in true travelbuzz style, we’re going to point you to a few and mention some of the places that general consensus suggests you should see…

Chris Pirillo has compiled a post titled Top 10 Things to Do in Sydney constructed from emails from his readers. The list, that includes must do spots such as St. Mary’s Cathedral, Taronga Zoo and the iconic Opera House, is accompanied by a video of Chris chatting through some of the possibilities (not all of which made his final list – open-air cinema anyone?).

For those on a budget look no further than STA Travelbuzz pal, Nomadic Matt’s post Free Stuff to Do in Sydney. The post is absolutely as described, highlighting (and illustrating) where to go for entertainment without having to shed any cash – such as the beaches,

Go surfing, swimming, paddling, walking, or simply laze in the sun. From Palm Beach in the north, through the famous Bondi to Cronulla in the south, Sydney is jeweled in white sandy beaches. Discover your favorite, whether energetic and crowded or tucked away almost unseen- there is a beach for all moods and people.”

For a more visual fare visit the Telegraph’s 12 photographs demonstrating ‘great things to do in Sydney’. These include the Blue Mountains, shrimps on the barbie and the Hyde Park Barracks.

And, as if this wasn’t enough, there is also the Travbuddy community offering advice based on their own experiences. Some of the notable recommendations are for the Manly to Spit Bridge Scenic Walkway and Australian Museum,

“The Australian Museum in Sydney is everything I expect from a museum. You walk in and, as there should be, a skeleton of a whale is hanging over you.”

That’s exactly what I look for in a museum! If you’ve got anything on Sydney to add, from anecdotes to historical interest we want to know, either get in touch through the usual methods of email or twitter, or simply leave a comment below…
