Our latest STA Explorer, James, is a man obsessed with trekking, the more difficult and unusual the better. His trip will see him doing what he loves most and squeezing in all the exploration he can while trekking Asia.

We’ve decided to give him the Explorer name of Asia by Foot because of his love of the trek. The countries he’s going to stride across are as follows – Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Borneo, Brunei, Cambodia, Burma, Bangladesh, Nepal and India. Such a list is going to ensure us some interesting tales.

He’s already through Thailand, admitting it wasn’t really his thing,

“I watched the beach on my iPod the other day and he sums it up perfectly! Everyone goes to Thailand searching for something different but ends up doing the same as everyone else… I haven’t really been feeling Thailand to be honest and its time to jack it in…”

And true to his word that’s what James has done. Some friends he knows are helping clear up after the earthquake in Indonesia, and that’s where he is currently. Although his blog, Asian Adventure hasn’t covered this stage of the journey as yet, he did tweet this,

“Doing earthquake relief in Sumatran, Indonesia! Hot and tiring!”
