Taxis in Rome about to get better?
Anyone who has been anywhere knows the potential danger of being over charged for a cab ride; in fact I’m pretty sure this happened to me in Manchester recently during our talk tour of STA Travel stores (which sadly ended yesterday, with our final appearance in Ealing *sob*). However, the Daily Mail has reported on Taxis in Rome, who have a particularly bad reputation, attempting to make the ‘tourist price’ a thing of the past.
Radiotaxi 3570 has implemented a system that allows a customer to pay online before they head off from their home, hotel room or wherever. The system also allows users to book drivers who speak English, French, Spanish or German. The firms Chairman Loreno Bittarelli said,
“We want to change the public’s perceptions about Rome taxi drivers…”
The idea is part of a broader campaign for the city, summed up by the billboards recently launched by the city council proclaiming that ‘Rome loves tourists’.
The full story on the Taxis in Rome is here and we think it sounds like a great idea – if you’ve used it, let us know how it worked out.
