Racing across the sweltering Aussie outback in a Subaru station wagon there were more moments of unexpected excitement than one may think, for instance take Ady’s first stint behind the wheel,

“I drove through Larrimma first, and almost hit a peacock, of all things…. There were two of them just walking around!”

This turned out to be the least of their worries as the ‘tank’ of a Subaru began to falter. For the details of how to deal with a broken fuel filter and a burst tyre while in the middle of nowhere click through. Be warned though if you can’t find a man named Bob who happens to be a legend, you’re going to struggle.

Finally in Cairns and enjoying it greatly, Ady took some time to think on future plans and the conclusion he reached was time to call it a day – Ady’s coming home!

“I have had a great time and I now have an excuse for another trip to come back and travel through SE Asia in the future… and do it properly! I would hate to miss some stuff just because I have to budget too hard. Plus a break from hostels now would be great! Haha.”

So ‘our guys’ is now just Ady, but he’s been blogging like crazy over at around the world. Firstly, about his nightmare train journey to Darwin which wasn’t easy, the facilities weren’t great, the chairs were broken and it lasted for 24 hours but,

“The views were great […] and I was lucky enough to have a spare seat next to me so I managed to get some decent sleep.”

On the trip, despite being a little self conscious about hispersonal odour due to jumping about taking photos in Alice Springs and the snoozing on the locomotive, Ady ventured to Katherine Gorge during a scheduled stop. From this image it looks well worth the disregard to upsetting those within sniffing distance.

Next up Ady is heading to Cairns – he may fly, he may hitch. Or, learn to sail whilst taking a boat trip to Madagascar… Ok, so that’s not going Cairns, but I guess that’s the joy of travelling.

“Probably being a bit paranoid but there was nobody I could see for a long way…I felt like a bit of an adventurer”.

Braving the sweltering heat he managed to avoid the snakes and reach the summit.

“It was a really spectacular sight! I took a load of photos but the sun was just where the town was so I couldn’t get any decent pictures of that.”

Luckily fearless Ady may once again brave the treacherous hill climb, in an attempt to bring us photos of the ‘360 degree views’.

I tell you something, this blog is never dull.

And boy have they lived up to expectations, fortunately not the breaking bones bit, but the extreme sports… The latest entry has details of Steve going for a ‘wander’, and Ady playing some Poker and Uno, pretty extreme let me tell you! Ok, seriously…

“We chose to do the luge. It was pretty cheap and definitely alot of fun. We took a kind of ski lift up to the top of a mountain and rode go-kart type racers down the hill. There were three courses, a scenic one, intermediate and advance. We did all three and the advanced one was great. Even got a bit of air at one point!”

So that’s luge done, next up is black water rafting – we await the action!

New Zealand’s reputation as an extreme sports mecca has really caught Ady’s imagination, and it looks like his blog is going to be a hub of excitement over the next few weeks.

With Zorbing, mountain-biking black water rafting, glacier climbing and hiking planned, we’ll keep you posted on just how many bones they manage to break…

To make up for this delicious sloth, they had also booked ‘The Ultimate Lei’ tour with Awesome Adventures Fiji and STA Travel, and describe the whole experience in detail as they island hop from Coral View to Manta Ray, Kuata and finally Bounty Island (where, apparently, they filmed Celebrity Love Island. Whoop.) It’s such a drag, you won’t want to even bother reading about it. No, really. Just reef snorkelling, eating coconuts, swimming with sharks, that sort of thing. Yawn.
