Showing some love for New Zealand
Over the weekend, some friends and I were discussing where in the world we would most like to live if unfairly exiled from the UK. Unsurprisingly, we all picked nations which used English as their first language. I chose Canada, along with my mate who had only just come back from there, the most popular choice was Australia (by quite a margin), and one patriot could not imagine leaving London.
It only occurred to me afterwards that nobody chose New Zealand, while the majority of people opted for Australia – why were the Kiwis so completely forgotten amongst our small group? To make up for this, I decided to point STA travelbuzz readers in the direction of a couple of bloggers talking about New Zealand.
First off, we meet Jack Gooding of Jack’s Travel Blog who visited New Zealand back in April and who offers a detailed account of his experiences there - great research for anyone who’s planning a trip. Meanwhile, Raj Chopra has only recently left Australia for New Zealand, so this is a good chance to jump into his travel log and follow his progress from now on.
On a side note, if you’re going to travel round New Zealand, do it in style and rent a camper van. There’s something irresistibly cool about cruising with your buddies across the beautiful collection of islands. So cool, in fact, that it probably doesn’t warrant the use of the decidedly lame terms ‘cruising’ and ‘buddies’ in the same sentence. Regardless, Teamspiers would like some advice about where to rent such a camper van from. If you have something to say or would just like to read the responses, click here.
